Opposition leader Raila Odinga’s quest to have NASA leaning counties adopt People’s Assembly Bill has received a major boost following latest declaration from Nyamira County.

Moments before High Court suspended constituting of the assemblies; already 12 of 19 NASA leaning counties had passed the Bill.

A defiant Nyamira Assembly Majority Leader Duke Masira said the assembly will discuss and adopt the Bill next week.

“There have been reports that we are not keen to pass the Bill. As a house, we shall discuss it next week and put it in place,” he said.

The Township MCA added: “We do not care what the court said and we shall ensure the constitution is respected. That is our reward to Raila.”

Earlier, reports on social media claimed that the South Nyanzan County had settled on working with Jubilee administration, a claim that Governor John Nyagarama denied.

At Maanzoni on Saturday, the Nyamira team led by Nyagarama and Masira met Odinga and resolved to ensure People’s Assembly Bill is expeditiously passed.
