The aborted Orange Democratic Movement’s (ODM) rally in Nakuru’s Kaptembwa estate has increased the wrath against Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama who is accused of disrupting it.
Area MCA Daniel Ambale and ODM’s party branch chairman have accused the MP of being behind the Sunday rally’s woes. Flanked by tough-talking officials, the team swore to increase the push for Arama’s removal from office.
Ex-councillor William Ating'a claimed Arama was directing both the police and the rowdy youth operating from a nearby Afya Centre building. He accused the police of being impartial in dealing with the rally organisers.
Party youth leader Hilton Abiola alleged that some people were injured and hospitalised and challenged Arama to resign and contest for the MP’s seat on a Jubilee ticket.
Shauri Yako ward’s Rose Lai claimed a senior administrator supported Arama in unleashing the police against them and asked him to "keep off ODM affairs". She said the same rally will be held next week at Mazembe grounds in the same area.
Others at the rally were ex-Bondeni ward civic leader Gibe Kassim, Kivumbini MCA Vitalis Okello
Last week, Arama said he was opposed to the rally and its agenda.
“The rally does not resonate with the majority of my constituents. My people say they want development and not premature 2017 politics they are being driven to,” he said.
He had also dared the Nakuru ODM officials to host the rally in his political backyard.
