Residents of Boige sub location, Ekona village in South Mugirango have asked acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i  to intervene following increased insecurity in the area.

The residents led by David Kobingi and Martin Ondara said a group of armed youths have been attacking and robbing residents in the past few days.

Kobingi said the youth who dropped out of school have gone unpunished despite the numerous crimes they have been doing.

"We can't continue like this. On Tuesday, armed youths broke into Shem Maingo's house in the village and stole 6 sacks of beans. They used motorbikes to ferry the beans and nothing has been done. Ekona administration police are relaxing instead they should offer security. This has to stop or else we take the law into our hands," Kobingi said.

He urged Nyumba Kumi officials to ensure youths who dropped school report back to school next year when schools re-opens.

"Education is free in secondary and primary. Youth should go to school for the better of their future," he stated.

Ondara said AP officers in the areas should be transferred because they have failed their duties.

Reached for a comment area assistant chief Job Amara assured that police are investigating the matter to arrest the suspects.
