Several small-scale business people in the area are counting huge loses after their businesses places were marooned, and their properties destroyed by the ravaging deluge.

M-Pesa outlets operators were mostly affected as costly and sophisticated phones were washed away, plunging several operators into financial crisis.

Hussein Abdullahi, an M-Pesa operator, lamented that water poured into his structure, washing away the phones that were neatly arranged on the shelves.

"Unfortunately, I stocked the outlet three days before the rains and right now am just contemplating the next course since most of the phones are dysfunctional," said Hussien.

Foodstuff operators, too, were not spared since most of their foodstuffs were hydrated by the flood, compelling them to dispose them at the various dumpsite in the region.
