This comes after Ongwae dismissed Interior CS Fred Matiang’i’s claims that contraband sugar seized contained mercury.

Locals led by Emmanuel Marubi claimed that Matiang’i is arresting people to show how superior he is.

“Matiang’i should stop frustrating people who are telling the truth about contraband sugar. It is evident that Matiang’i has been paid by cartels to arrest people like Ongwae,” he said.

Charles Angwenyi, a trader faulted Matiang’i for his efforts to ensure Ongwae is sacked from KEBS.

“Ongwae appeared before the Parliamentary trade committee and told the committee on what he knows better about contraband sugar.

"Because he denied Matiang’i mercury in sugar claims, Matiang’i has loaded guns to arrest him with an aim to have him sacked. This is unacceptable two sons fighting each other,” he said.

Kefah Moenga, youth leader said Matiang’i has in the past arrested Kisii leaders and bloggers with an intention to please cartels.

“Matiang’i is using police to chase fame in this country. He should be ignored. Ongwae told the truth which angered Matiang’i who thinks he is always right,” he noted.
