Kenyans across the country have been reacting to claims by Jubilee's Vice-Chair David Murathe that Sonko's dramatic decision to nominate Miguna Miguna as his deputy is designed to forestall his impending impeachment.

Murathe warned that such 'tantrums' would not amount to much as the impeachment would proceed unhindered.

Garissa residents have also been reacting to the dramatic development that has blindsided the vast majority of Kenyans.

Here are some of their reactions:

''This is very unfortunate. Sonko should be allowed to his work,'' Abdilatif Kuno said.

''Nairobi is very crucial to Kenya as a whole. These fights are not constructive,'' Omar Sukre said.

''I pray that this will come to an end. Nairobi cannot afford such a standoff,'' Salo Medina said.

''There is so much politics involved in this. They won't succeed,'' Omar Balo said.

''Sonko has a right to nominate anyone he feels like nominating. He should not be frustrated,'' Khalif Sumo said.

''I don't know what to say. I just hope that this ends well,'' Abdulahi Abad said.

The nomination caught many Kenyans by surprise and has been roiling social media for days on end.

Jubilee stalwarts have maintained that the nomination is dead in the water and will not see the light of day.

It would be interesting to see how things pan out in the days to come.
