Sunday's turn out of events in Baringo South showed DP William Ruto's political tricks that handed him a major victory against Kanu leader Gideon Moi.

With an impending by-election and reported disorganisation within Jubilee party, Ruto's political manauver worked to his credit after poaching Kanu candidate Charles Kamuren ahead of Baringo South by-election.

So calculative was Ruto that he descended Kanu's camp at the eleventh minute thus forcing the independent party to bolt out of the election.

"We lost our candidate to Jubilee in last minutes and this makes it nearly impossible for us to field another candidate," said William Kamket, a close ally of Moi.

The by-election that was precipitated by the death of Grace Kipchoim was projected by political pundits to be a major test between Ruto and Mr. Moi over their popularity in Rift Valley.

Both bigwigs have openly declared their intention to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta who retires in 2022.

After the successful mission of raiding Kanu in dying minutes, Ruto assured all candidates including ODM's Amos Olempaka who had also joined Jubilee, of free and fair polls.

"I want to assure you as the deputy leader of Jubilee that we have no preferred candidate. Voters will decide," said Ruto.

And on Monday, Kamuren was declared the winner in a controversial Jubilee nomination in which results were reportedly declared at the DC's office.
