Former Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka is a wise man. The Ukambani political kingpin two decades ago the life of the late Minister Nicholas Biwott. The Wiper leader helped the former minister escape from a hotel as police were waiting to pounce on him after an altercation with a woman suspected to be a commercial sex worker.

 It is recorded that Kalonzo, who was then the foreign affairs minister, quickly organized an air ticket for Biwott and assist him to fly to Singapore. He recalls sneaking him through one of the hotel exit doors with the help of Head of Civil Service Sally Kosgei.

"We sneaked him out through one of the hotel exit doors. A taxi was waiting outside and, with the visa in his hand, he went straight to the airport," recalled the source.

"We were not interested in any diplomatic problems with New Zealand. We knew the government would not demand his arrest once he was out of the country. It surprised us that the information had already been leaked to journalists in Nairobi through the Foreign Affairs ministry," he added.  Biwott, who was one of the most powerful ministers, died in July 2017 leaving behind a multimillion empire.
