Although Nairobi governor Mike Sonko recently exposed a spate of SMS chats between him  and his deputy Polycarp Igathe as evidence of their good relations, the texts have done more harm to him than good.

They have shown that even though we wight see Sonko and Igathe laugh in public, their relations are not as warm as they appear.

The string showed how the two operate on frosty relations.

A study of the text messages revealed that Igathe does not always receive Governor Mike Sonko's calls and instead prefers to text.

They showed a Sonko wanting to know why Igathe did not receive his calls.

“Million apologies. Was dead asleep and missed your call,” he moans on November 5.

But this does not stop on November 5; it recurs just three days after with Igathe blaming early sleep and apologising for not receiving his boss' calls.

“I retired to bed way early last night. Just noticed missed calls last night. Pray all is well. I am en route to the office. And apology for missing your call boss.”

Again, the texts reveal Igathe as suffering from the affliction of grabbing the boss' attention.

On November 25, Igathe texted his boss informing him that the new Nyeri governor Mutahi Kahiga was looking for him.But Sonko did not  text back.

Igathe had to wait until the following day early morning to text asking whether Sonko would make it for the flag-off of the annual Standard Chartered Marathon.

But the governor responds saying that Igathe should go ahead and represent him in case he doesn't make it.

“I am here bro. Am running too,” Igathe responds.

But Sonko goes mute.

On December 5, Igathe apprises Sonko of a situation to be fixed where an person who ran on an Opposition ticket has continued to chair a public hospital.

Igathe is asking for Sonko's approval to have the issue fixed.

Sonko does not text back.
