Lenginet location chief Jonathan Siele said the residents were tipped off by the homeowner's children, who disclosed that a huge snake was being reared there.

They then invaded the farm and found the serpent, after which they severely beat up the home's husband and wife.

The residents later carried the cobra to the local Kesusot trading centre where it attracted many area dwellers, who flocked there to witness the rare sighting of the 25-feet long snake.

The affected couple were, however, treated and discharged from the Rongai health centre while Siele pleaded with members of the public against taking the law into their hands.
