Former US Secretary to the State Rex Tillerson now says he had not spoken to President Donald Trump and that he's unaware of reasons to his ouster.
Slightly a day after leaving Nairobi where he visited for three days since Friday, Tillerson was rendered jobless by Trump.
"Mike Pompeo, the CIA Director will be the Secretary to the State. I think he will do a fantastic job," said Trump on his Twitter account.
And in a rejoinder minutes after his ouster, Tillerson denied knowledge on particulars for his dismissal.
"I have not spoken to the president and I am not aware of the reasons for my dismissal."
Hours before landing in Nairobi last week, President Uhuru Kenyatta and his political nemesis Raila Odinga called ceasefire after weeks of polical turmoil in Kenya.
It is widely believed that the unprecedented unity was brokered by US under the stewardship of Tillerson.
