Kisii County education board has ordered the closure of a private school in Gucha South.

Mercy Baptist Orphanage High school was shut down after the board discovered that the school does not meet the required standards.

Henry Onderi, the board chairman said parents whose children have been enrolled in the institution should transfer their children next year because the school will not be operational.

“Mercy Baptist High school should not continue admitting students since the school is operating contrary to the education laws," he said.

Onderi added that the school has employed unqualified teachers who are not registered with TSC.

He said the school also lacks a laboratory and a library.

Onderi noted that a crackdown will be down to shut down other schools that are operating without meeting the required educational standards.
