Although there have been changes in the recent years in terms of the structures of the hostels still there is work if not a lot of work to be carried out.

Renovations are underway especially hostels H for the male students not leaving behind hostel M that's under completion. Several hostel structures in Moi University have been deprived especially at the foundational level. These hostels are antiquated if not old as they were constructed during the era and time of erstwhile president Daniel Moi. This university is thought by most people that it is found in the midst of Eldoret town and this is not true as it is more than 30km from the town.

The actual thing here is that students miss rooms in the hostels since hostel booking is more than the struggle and partition of Africa. This makes students who fail to secure the rooms to search for different areas of residence in the midst of villagers as this act as the alternative.

Security issues are also seen when students are faced with villager's wrath especially when they fail to pay house rent on time since most of these students are from humble backgrounds.

Female students like to have different dressing codes. This scanty dressing makes them the prey for villagers and rape comes in as an issue. Many students have been attacked by vicious fellow scholars during the dark times of the days. The late Charity Maina's body was found lying behind one of the hostels.

Students caught as victims of insecurity are mostly those who come from their studies late at night. For example, a student may be having a group discussion or library studies.
