O'mogeni regretted that most farmers have started uprooting tea from their farms because they have been receiving peanuts.

“I will fight for tea farmers across the county to ensure they get good payment from the companies that buys tea leaves. Farmers must enjoy their hard work and not getting peanuts as bonus and monthly incentives,” he said.

He called on Nyamira County through the department of Agriculture to organize for public forums and educate tea farmers on the modern methods of growing tea at heir farms.

“Tea farmers are uprooting tea from their farms because agricultural extension officers are not visiting them in deep villages to educate them.

"It is time the county government should organize for public forums so that the farmers can be informed on the importance of growing tea,” he said.

The senator was speaking at Gesima area on Tuesday where he said people in the county are tea growers.
