A team of crime busters has been dispatched to unravel the mystery surrounding theft of State House furniture.
Sources revealed that close to sixty seats were stolen from Nakuru State House between the months of October and November.
On Monday, six of the seats were recovered from a Nakuru hotel which is owned by a prominent family.
The family has deep political networks and one of their sons is a minister in Nakuru County government.
Investigators handling the matter confirmed that actually the seats were in the hotel which is located along Kenyatta Avenue.
“It is suspected the chairs were stolen from State House and some found their way to a hotel owned by a top official working in the county government,” said an officer involved in the high ranking investigations.
Nakuru OCPD Samuel Obara said investiagtions had been ongoing and leads had pointed to the hoted which was raided and management ambushed.
“We raided the hotel after getting information that some of the missing chairs were at the hotel,” said Obara.
Some stuff were also arrested and frogmarched to Central police station for grilling.
Investigators were shocked on how furniture from a highly guarded place like the President's house could be stolen terming the matter as 'highly sensitive'.
“This issue is sensitive and should be handled with care, that is why police headquarters will brief you,” Obara said.
