Residents of Barnabas estate in Nakuru woke up to a rude shock after they found six cattle slaughtered behind Umash funeral home.

The cattle had been stolen a few meters from where they were slaughtered.

It  is suspected that unscrupulous meat dealers were behind the business with locals saying that the meat might have found its way to a ready market in Nairobi.

Barnabas, Mbaruk and Pipeline estate is prone to cattle and donkey theft.

Police have been accused of laxity in curbing cattle theft in the area.

It is not clear why the thugs decided to slaughter the cattle behind a mortuary.
