Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i's continued crackdown on rogue traders cold cost him his life, Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati has said.

For weeks now, Matiang'i has persistently adopted his transformation agenda in the Interior ministry after similar showdown in ICT and Education docents.

"I can't sit and watch our children being spoilt by these rogue businessmen no matter where they come from. We shall deal with it," he said in reference to gambling machines.

Other than gambling, Matiang'i has also launched a crackdown on contraband sugar, a move that has seen over 10,000 bags nabbed.

And Arati, who has been at loggerheads with Matiang'i over spokesperson position for Gusii community, said the minister's approach could expose him to cartels.

"Mr. Minister, the kind of work you are doing is risky. These people can assassinate you. Be careful with the kind of food you take," he said adding that cartels may not be happy.

So controversial the fight against illicit sugar business has been, that even senior politicians have been linked.

On Wednesday, National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale distanced himself from the business but vowed to name MPs being it.
