On Wednesday, photos emerged showing Sonko holding a cabinet meeting at his Mua home.

In a statement, the governor's communications team stated that the meeting was impromptu and Sonko had planned to meet with the CECs.

The governor stated that he had not transferred county duties to Machakos as reported earlier.

The Nairobi Cabinet was summoned to Sonko’s Mua Hills home in Machakos to discuss county matters.

Reports further alleged that the county executives were again asked to hold a meeting at the governor's home on Monday.

Recently Sonko has been on the receiving end after nominating lawyer Miguna Miguna as his Deputy in a move that was widely opposed by his Jubilee Party.

Party Vice chair David Murathe stated that the appointment was a diversionary tactic by Sonko from his poor performance.

Murathe stated that Sonko might be impeached by the Jubilee Party.
