Speaking during an interview with KTN, Governor Sonko stated that he will appoint another candidate suitable for this position.  He said, “I’ll just nominate another deputy governor. The constitution is very clear on what I should do in the event the office of the deputy governor falls vacant.”

Sonko further pleaded with President Uhuru Kenyatta to allow the self-proclaimed leader of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Miguna into the country for the process of vetting him to be started out successfully.

“To my President Uhuru, I say forgive Miguna Miguna. I was also insulted by him during the elections. He called me a drug baron, thief, cartel but all this has been overtaken by events because the campaign period is over. Miguna is my choice, so the president should let him (Miguna) come back and if he accepts the nomination, we will work together, if he doesn’t it is okay, I will find someone else,” stated Governor Sonko.

However, if the nomination of Miguna fails, Sonko is ready to go back to his narrowed down list and pick another suitable candidate. More candidates could be added to the list if need be.

The Nairobi Governor is certain his nomination for Miguna will go through as he has been without a deputy for quite a long time.
