Garissa Supkem secretary general Abdullahi Salat has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to accept reforms dialogue with opposition leader Raila Odinga.Salat said NASA’s reforms agenda could help heal the country that is still divided after last year’s presidential election.Speaking to journalists in Garissa Town on Thursday, the Supkem official warned that failure to dialogue is likely to escalate suspicion and hatred among Uhuru and Raila’s supporters.“Jubilee and NASA should reach a common ground on key issues facing the country among them unity,” he said.The Supkem official said Raila’s controversial planned swearing-in is causing anxiety among Kenyans.He said an environment for dialogue will end the anxiety and confusion by providing direction for the country.“I urge the president to reach out to the former Prime Minister and listen to his concerns for the good our country,” he said.Salat said the future of the country lies in addressing pertinent issues among them electoral justice and rule of law.NASA has ruled out any dialogue with Jubilee on reforms, arguing that the ‘window for talks lapsed a long time ago’.The opposition is now planning to swear in Raila and Kalonzo Musyoka as the people’s president and deputy president respectively on January 30 at Uhuru Park.The government has warned against the swearing-in, which it terms as illegal and highly treasonous.
