Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho was on September 25, 2017 arrested and detained at the Nyali police station after a confrontation over alleged land grabbing.
Joho had stormed the station demanding for the release of seven County inspectorate officers who had been arrested after blocking demolitions in an alleged grabbed land.
According to Joho, the police were working with other police officers and high rank persons to grab the public land.
"I have established that the police commander here and his officers here are simply trying to aid someone to grab public land,” said Joho who was later on, released.
He vowed to ensure cases of land grabbing in Mombasa are dealt with accordingly.
