Wetangula was ousted and replaced with Siaya Senator James Orengo.

According to reports, Raila wanted the parliamentary group meeting to held and his office but not parliament buildings.

“Raila wanted us to have the Parliamentary Group meeting at his office. Senators received calls asking them not to have the meeting at Parliament’s Buildings,” said a senator who sought anonymity is quoted by the Standard.

However, the senators resolved to have the meeting to remove Wetangula before proceeding to any other meeting.

“The intention was to stop us from making a resolution over the issue of House leadership. It was unanimously agreed we have the group meeting and vote before we go for another meeting,” the source added.

After failing to meet Raila, the opposition chief later decided to leave the office after it became apparent that nobody will show up.

Raila is expected to chair another meeting on Thursday to try and save Wetangula.
