Roncliffe Oditi will never forget the day he covered Boniface Mwangi's demo and went back to Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) to file the story.

Oditi was later suspended after uploading the clip of the demo where Mwangi hit out at the Jubilee government over failure to tackle corruption.

In the clip, the activist said President Uhuru Kenyatta was “slowly becoming commander-in-thief instead of commander-in-chief.”

It is not clear whether it was by omission or commission that the energetic reporter-cum-news anchor did not cut away the part. He went ahead to upload the clip on KBC's offcial Youtube channel.

By the following day, bosses at KBC were at pains to explain why a national broadcaster was insulting the head of state.

The clip was pulled down and by the time it was down, Oditi had been shown the door.
