Nyali constituency Member of Parliament Mohammed Ali has come out clearly to shed more light on the controversial week-long topic of illegal importation of  mercury and copper laced sugar in the country.

Speaking in Nairobi during a TV show with Jeff Koinange, the MP termed the sugar business as a rivalry effort by importers of the said product who hope to outdo each other in the market.

"Mercury is an expensive metal. Who would put that in sugar? This is about business rivalry." Ali said. 

This comes at a time after Aden Duale tabled a list of 4 individuals, all cabinet secretaries, whom he accused of taking part in the sugar business.
