Residents of Ibeno area, Kisii County have raised concern over increased theft in the region.

This comes just a day after suspected thieves broke into three churches in the area namely; Kerongo Seventh Day Adventist, Nyanturago SDA and Kabosi PAG on Tuesday night.

They then made away with equipment valued at Sh 300,000.

"The thieves stole public address systems and chairs from the churches and the police have already launched investigations into the matter," said Christopher Omanga, the area chief.

He also warned local youths who dropped from school against engaging themselves in crime.

He also confessed that their was a serious security issue in the locality.

"The number of youths who have dropped out of school is damn high and it must be a contributor to the insecurity being experienced here," said Mr Omanga.
