The accident involved two motorbikes that collided at the university gate which is still under construction.

One of the motorbikes was carrying a male first-year student and was coming out of the school, while the other which was making its way into the school was carrying two people. It is believed the initial motorbike had lost control of its brakes leading to a head-on collision.

"It seemed like the motorbike coming out of the school had lost control of its brakes as it could not slow down," one of the eyewitnesses said.

Three people including the first year student were seriously injured with the students being rushed to the school's dispensary and the boda-boda operators taken to a hospital at Kesses.

"I was taken to the school dispensary where I was bandaged and received treatment. I was discharged and told to report back tomorrow," the first year student said.

A few months ago, the then acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Laban Ayiro had banned motorbikes from operating within the school. This was to prevent accidents especially ones that would involve students. That rule did not, however, stand the test of time as it faded.

"With the boda-boda operating inside the school and this bad weather, cases of accidents may increase and the students, therefore, need to be careful," one student noted at the accident scene.
