The TNA party national head office has reinstalled ousted Nakuru County assembly majority leader George Mwaura.
The announcement was made on Thursday during a press conference held at the party’s county headquarters in Milimani, Nakuru town.
In a letter dated Tuesday and addressed to Nakuru County assembly speaker Susan Kihika and copied to the chief whip James Tuei, current majority leader Waithuki Njane and Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua, TNA secretary general Onyango Oloo said the ‘purported’ replacement of Mosop ward MCA did not follow due process.
“It has come to our attention that sometime around June 2014 your office purported to have replaced the county majority leader without following due process,” the letter, titled “Purported Replacement and Reinstatement of Majority Leader in Nakuru County Assembly”, read in part.
“The purpose of this letter is to let you know that we take great exception to such untoward act against the party leadership and to advice that the party still recognises Hon George Mwaura Njenga having been elected at a duly constituted assembly of the county,” Onyango wrote.
The letter was read by Visoi ward MCA Edward Gitau to at least 20 ward representatives. It warned of disciplinary actions against TNA members who break the law.
“Kindly be appraised that the party will not hesitate to take disciplinary action against its members who collude to undermine the rule of law, justice and democratic ideals, values which we hold dear.”
