The businesspeople claimed that Matiang’i is misleading members of the public that a consignment of sugar nabbed in Nairobi few days ago was contaminated with mercury.

“Matiang’i is misleading members of the public that sugar that was nabbed in Nairobi was contaminated while KEBS has denied. Who do we trust Matiang’i or KEBS? The Cabinet secretary should be ignored and be kicked out from office,” said a trader Liverton Manoti.

David Onchari claimed that Matiang’i is only interested to be at the forefront chasing fame by giving false information to the public.

“We all know what Matiang’i is looking for. Fame only is what is troubling him. It is time he should pack and leave office because the information he is giving about contraband sugar is contradicting to what KEBS is giving,” said Onchari.

Onchari said he has been selling sugar at his shop in Nyamira town for over 20 years and he has never received any complains from customers that he is selling contaminated sugar.

According to Onchari, Matiang’i is confused only interested to call press conferences to give false information to show Kenyans that he is hard working.
