Acting Director General of the Kenya Urban Roads Authority Silas Kinoti made an announcement that the construction works on the road will start in May and take about two years.

Thika town M.P Patrick Wainaina said that once completed, the bypass will ease traffic into Thika town and its environs by offering alternative routes.

“The bypass will in addition reduce the time taken to drive to Nairobi and hence make Thika an ideal residential area for those who work in Nairobi," Wainanina said on Sunday.

Thika west Deputy Commissioner Tom Anjere urged the investors to take advantage of the ongoing project and set affordable residential apartments to help meet the government housing agenda.
