Train locals on how to deal with fire, police say

Residents of Kisii County have been lauded for the efforts they put whenever their is a fire break out in the region.

This comes barely hours after residents of Daraja Mbili area united to put off a fire that broke in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. 

Kisii county police commander Hassan Abdi said members of the public should be given credit for the efforts they made to contain the fire.

"We thank members of the public who turned up and contained the fire. Its not the first time we have noted the exemplary efforts they putput whenever their is a disaster," Mr Abdi said. 

According to Mr Abdi their was need for residents to be trained on how to deal with fire once it breaks. 

"Residents should be taken through training which will help them acquire skills to fight fires in the future," he added. 

In the recent past, Kisii and its environs have witnessed an increase in the number of fire incidents.
