Two witnesses on Monday skipped court proceedings in a case where a baby aged 10 months was found with 14 sewing needles in her buttocks.
The baby’s parents Isaac Githure and Jacinta Ndunge are the main suspects in the case and were first charged at a Thika court on December 5, 2017.
The prosecution told the court that one of the witnesses failed to appear in court over official duties.
Magistrate Grace Omodho ordered the prosecution to ensure the two key witnesses appears in court in the next hearing scheduled for March 6.
The baby was taken away from her parents who denied assaulting her and has been recuperating at Macheo Children’s home after 13 needles were successfully removed at Thika Level 5 Hospital last year.
