Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to deal with NASA leader Raila Odinga and Cheif Justice David Maraga.
In an episode on his YouTube channel 'The 5th Estate', Ngunyi’s team said Uhuru needs to remove Chief Justice David Maraga from office by finishing him in the most obvious way.
The team indicated that all the Head of State required to remove Maraga from the helm of the Judiciary is six members of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
“All you need are six members of the JSC. You have four members already appointed this week. If you acquire two other sitting members, you will remove Maraga,” said a member of Nyunyi’s team.
The Fort Hall School of Government students further suggested that with the help of the JSC, Uhuru did not require a valid reason to remove the CJ from office.
“If you have six members of the JSC, you can remove Maraga because you do not like the shape of his head. Your reasoning can be as politically ridiculous as the judgments he has been making,” they noted.
The team advised the President to woo Justices Philomena Mwilu and Smoking Wanjala to his side for the strategy to work.
“If you promise Justice Mwilu the position of chief justice and Wanjala the deputy chief justice they will betray Maraga in the JSC. This will give you a majority of six commissioners then you can fire Maraga.”
The students also noted that Uhuru must finish Raila unapologetically and with finality, adding that the President should not engage in politics of half measures.
“Raila has an ally in Maraga and if the two combine forces, Uhuru’s second time will be hell. Uhuru must change tact, he must increase space but more fundamentally he must deal decisively with Maraga and Raila, and he must do that now,” said Ngunyi.
“To stop the opposition’s madness, you must deal with Raila. The more you shy away from fixing the Raila menace, the deeper the coming crisis will be,” added one of the students.
