President Uhuru Kenyatta has now been accused of blackmailing Kisii county governor James Ongwae after reports emerged that he has been calling upon Ongwae to stop peoples’ assembly motion in the county or lose a cabinet secretary post set to be given to his close ally.

According to Bogeka ward Representative Charles Nyagoto, the president has been allegedly behind the delay of the people’s assembly motion and has been using some of the agents and leaders from the area to ensure that the governor doesn’t push for the same.

Speaking on Sunday at a church function the ODM MCA, however, said that the people’s assembly will go on and will be passed despite the fact that Jubilee leaders from the area are looking for means to delay it.

“We have wanted to pass the people’s assembly but we are much aware that the president through his Jubilee leaders and agents from the area has been blackmailing the top leaders including our governor with the promise that the region will get an extra cabinet secretary slot,” said Nyagoto.
