Details of a power sharing deal between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi have been revealed.

According to Nation, the power deal involves handing Kanu cabinet slots.

The paper reports that Gideon Moi handed President Kenyatta names of potential nominees to the Cabinet on Thursday last week.

It is alleged that Mr Kiprono Kittony, the chairman of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), and Kanu Secretary-General Nick Salat are among those poised to be handed cabinet positions.

In the deal, Mr Moi wants President Kenyatta to set aside a total of six slots in the executive, two in the Cabinet and four for principal secretaries in return.

This is seen as a reward for Kanu after supporting the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta during the August 8 polls.

The involvement of Moi in government sparks tension with DP Ruto’s camp.

Ruto is expected to vie for the presidency in 2022.
