Machakos Businessman Peter Muthoka, who donated a fleet of vehicles to spearhead President Uhuru Kenyatta’s campaign, has been appointed the Chancellor of the Masinde Muliro University.

According to Capital FM, Uhuru rewarded Muthoka for playing an immense role in his re-election. In a special notice, Uhuru revealed that the appointment of Muthoka will take effect on this Friday.

“In the exercise of the powers conferred to me by Section 38 (1) a of the Universities Act 2012, Laws of Kenya, I Uhuru Kenyatta, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander in Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces appoints Peter Muthoka to be chancellor Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology for a period of five years,” it stated, as quoted by the local daily.

Muthoka was nominated by the Kamba community in Machakos to represent them in acting as a bridge as he was seeking a second term in office.  Muthoka has been active in campaigning for the Jubilee Party for several months. The appointment comes at a time when Former Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka’s son, Kennedy, is on his way to the East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) after he was approved by both opposition and Jubilee supporters.
