The branch Treasurer, youthful Saddam Hassan, said they held a meeting last week when they resolved to remove former Nakuru deputy mayor Joseph Bett from the chairmanship.

He said there were many accusations levelled against Bett but most of them touched on funds, adding that the party’s officials decided to reinstate the chairman, Joshua Rotich, who was ousted after being elected in the run-up to the last general election.

Rotich’s deputy is now Jonathan Rono while Stanley Mwaura, who was recently appointed to be the personal assistant to Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua, retained the youth leader position.

Hassan was retained as URP treasurer while Benjamin Koros is the branch’s new organising secretary.

Rotich is a close ally of Kuresoi South MP Zakayo Cheruiyot.

He said that last month, the branch was paid Sh185,000 that was used to renovate and repaint the URP Nakuru office, located near London estate.
