The video shows Uhuru greeting leaders after alighting from his gas-guzzler but Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko does not greet the president raising eyebrows.

He is welcomed by Interior CS Fred Matiang'i, then greets Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui, MP Kinuthia Gachobe, Susan Kihika and MCA Peter Mbae.

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko is standing next to the last person Uhuru greets but when he (Uhuru) greets the man, Sonko is seen moving behind to avoid greeting him.

The move, coming at a time when there seems to be bad blood between the Nairobi and the national government, elicited mixed reactions online.

A section of social media users the move was a disrespect to the head of state.

Others suggested Sonko might have been with the president in Nairobi before coming to Solai.

The withdrawal of Sonko's security made things thick as netizens developed theories on an apparent war between some elements within the executive and Governor Sonko.
