Akaranga, who as accompanied by Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama and former director of former President Daniel Moi’s Presidential Press Service Lee Njeru, said he first visited the factory many years ago and was impressed by the progress it has made as it now employs over 150 people.

MDI produces amongst others a popular drink called Royal.

“It’s not a joke to put up such a facility and I urge you to move and make a bigger and better brewery,” the Vihiga County boss said.

Akaranga said he had come for the burial of Nakuru MCA Damaris Mbuthia, who was laid to rest on Friday at Ol-Rona village near Kabarak.

Akaranga, a former banker, added: “I’m very impressed by the factory visit, especially its level of cleanliness. I’m impressed that (Mike) Gaitho (factory owner) has spent money to buy a machine that detects methanol that has killed hundreds of Kenyans. I ask that more Kenyans invest in such ventures.”
