As pressure continues to mount on embattled Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko amid claims that his administration has failed on its mandate, several politicians have come to his defence with the latest being an ODM MP.

Sonko's troubles in running the capital county ballooned last week when research firm TIFA ranked him as the worst performing Governor.

His decision to nominate lawyer Miguna Miguna as his deputy further made him a marked man within Jubilee with party Chairman David Murathe firing the salvo to further complicate his situation.

However, while speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Monday, Ndhiwa MP Martin Owino came to the defence of Sonko saying that he should be given time and space to run the city.

"Governor Sonko cannot run Nairobi alone. He has technical staff; he should have the goodwill of the people of Nairobi so that he can do what he has to do," said the ODM lawmaker.

Sonko has in the past alleged that a section of Jubilee government officials has been undermining his leadership, to make him look like a failure.
