Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has hailed the return of Kenyan international Victor Wanyama.

He termed Wanyama's appearance in the FA cup ‘important psychologically ’.

The midfielder was a key part of Spurs in the 2016/17 league season and helped them finish second on the log.

However, a knee injury sustained during their match against Chelsea in August kept him away from play for most of the season.

He made a return to the squad against Swansea and got some playtime in their match against West Ham before clocking 90 minutes in their  FA Cup tie against Wimbledon.

“I think it's important for him (Lamela) and Victor to feel 90 minutes in their legs. It's so important. For Erik and Victor it's so important to feel like you can cope with 90 minutes. That is so important psychologically in this aspect,” said  his coach Pochetino.

Last season Wanyama was phenomenon, making 35 straight league starts following his signing from Southampton.

He also scored four goals.
