Speaking in his county on Monday, Tharaka-Nithi governor Muthomi Njuki said that all leaders should be given space to work so that in 2022, people can be left to choose who they want to take over from president Uhuru Kenyatta.

He said the opposition should give president Uhuru an ample time to work in his second tenure.

"President Uhuru must be given space to work for his second term, when 2022 come they can have they (the opposition) candidate for the top seat," he said.

He added: "We will also know who we will support in 2022. At the moment we don't have someone, and let us not lie to each other that we have someone, we don't."

Njuki said Jubilee party position that they will back Deputy President William Ruto in 2022 is a 'story'.

This is the second time Njuki is telling Ruto to 'forget' Tharaka Nithi support in the 2022 presidential politics.
