The leader was mobilizing eligible Kenyans to register as voters in Kondele area on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 when all hell broke all.

He was again chased away at the busy Kibuye market, a few metres from Kondele. He faced the wrath of angry Kisumu residents, after being branded a ‘Jubilee mole.’

His car was stoned by a group of rowdy youth. They broke his vehicle's rear and side windows accusing him of supporting Jubilee.

“You are a traitor and you only come to push your own agenda,” shouted one of the youth who attacked the MP.

Elected in 2013 on an ODM party ticket, the MP had for a very long time fought off accusations of being a Jubilee ‘mole.’ But that did not deter him from remaining steadfast in the Orange Party.

“I will not relent on the mass voter registration campaign. The youth should stop being misused by selfish politicians. We must end backwards and unlawful acts,” he later said after the attack.

Ken Obura unsuccessfully defended his seat in last year’s August general elections, after losing to Fred Ouda.

The former MP is now the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) in the Ministry of East African Community and Northern Corridor development.
