But for Vane Nyaboke, it was a lost opportunity when she coincidentally shared a makeshift hotel with DP William Ruto on Friday in Kisii.

The DP had made an impromptu stopover during his tour in the larger Gusii region to have some breakfast when Ms. Nyaboke came across him.

On realising that she had shook the hand of the second most powerful leader in Kenya, Nyaboke sped of from the scene to her nearby home.

The form four leaver who is yet to join college now regrets her 'naive' action which she says would have changed her life.

"At first I didn't imagine that it was him. I didn't see his armed security so I though it was an ordinary customer.

"When he sat, I could also seen Governor James Ongwae only to realise I had greeted the DP. I was a bit nervous and I had to rush from the scene. I regret for having done so," she said.

However, this is not the first incident in which an ordinary Kenyan gets scared after greeting powerful politicians.

Last week, a woman in Nakuru was terrified having realised that she had greeted president Uhuru Kenyatta during interdenominational services of Solai Dam victims.
