Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has affirmed his ambition to contest for the top seat in the 2022 General Election.
Speaking on Radio Jambo Wednesday morning, Mutua expressed certainty that his bid will sail through, adding that he is ready to lead the country as its fifth Head of State.
''I am ready to battle it out with the others for the post. I am sure of being the fifth President of Kenya after the 2022 polls,'' he said.
The Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader noted that he is the best option for the position since he had risen from the lowest level making him aware of the needs of Kenyans.
Governor Mutua stated that he is ready to address all the shortcomings of Kenyans and deliver, in line with their needs.
''I am the most suited for this position. Coming from the lowest social class, I know and understand what Kenyans need most and I am ready to realize their wishes,'' added Mutua.
Mutua's candidature is likely to affect his relationship with the government since the Jubilee team has already backed Deputy President William Ruto as President Uhuru Kenyatta's successor.
