Kibe notes that many drug addicts have no money to go for rehabilitation services which she said are expensive.

Speaking to journalists in Gatundu Town on Wednesday, the Jubilee MP observed that if established, the kitty will help rehabilitate addicts through treatment, counselling and also training.

“I have shared the idea with several MCAs at the county level and I think it is an idea that the county and national government should pick up,” she said.

Kibe noted that alcoholism and drug abuse remain a serious social issue that everyone must help end.

She noted that at least three people die daily as a result of alcohol and drug related complications in her constituency.

“In the last one month, seven people have died in Gatundu North and the situation is alarming,” she said.

Kibe asked the national and county government to chip in and help Non-Governmental  Organizations  (NGOs) engaging in drugs addicts rehabilitation.

The fight against illicit brews and second generation alcoholic drinks has been stepped up in Kiambu with Governor Ferdinand Waititu vowing to end the menace.

On Tuesday, Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Fred Matiang'i lauded  Waititu's crackdown, warning chiefs and local administrator's abetting illicit brewers  that they will be sacked.
