Alice Maitha, widow of the late Tourism minister in Mwai Kibaki's NARC government is dead.
Mrs. Maitha passed away at the Coast General Hospital on Tuesday March 13 while undergoing treatment.
Her husband Karisa Maitha died in Germany after a heart attack in August 2004.
The late Kisauni MP was popularly known as Hurricane due to the robustness with which he approached issues at the Local Government ministry.
He was a polygamist, with three wives – Rachel and Philomena, each with five children and Alice, with two. After his death, Ms Mwanauli Maitha claimed to be the fourth, although she did not have a child with him.Alice bore two children with Maitha; Mwaka Karisa and Benta Bahati Karisa.
Alice Maitha in 2013 made unsuccessful political jolts at Mombasa County senatorial seat on a TNA ticket.
She was the only woman eyeing the senator seat in the county, then.
