Through her lawyer Mr. Dome of the Dome and Kedogo Advocates, Judith noted that she will be filing an appeal against the entire judgment issued by to appeal the 15 years jail ruling by Kisumu Chief Magistrate Joan Wambilyanga.

“Take notice that Judith Khayosa Wandera, the appellant being dissatisfied with the judgement of the chief magistrate… intends to appeal to the High court of Kenya against the whole judgement,” read the notice in part.

During her hearing, Wandera asked the court for forgiveness adding that she never knew that the said boy was a minor.

She explained that she is the breadwinner to her family, and should therefore not be jailed.

"I am the breadwinner of the family. Please forgive me. I will never repeat the offence again," she cried out for mercy.

The presiding magistrate, however, denied her prayers and sentenced her to fifteen years in jail.
