At least 47 passengers escaped unhurt after a bus they were travelling in caught fire (on Tuesday evening).
Confirming the incident, Taita Taveta police commander Michael Mureithi said the bus belonging to Tahmeed Coach Ltd was en-route to Mombasa from Nairobi before it caught fire at Manyani, near Voi.
The incident which happened at around 5pm, frightened passengers, with some using windows to jump out of the bus.
According to Mureithi, the bus crew managed to put off the fire whose cause is yet to be established.
There has been no official communication from Tahmeed Coach Ltd over the incident.
In April this year, a bus belonging to the same company caught fire with 39 passengers on board.
The bus was headed to Dar-es-Salaam in Tanzania, from Mombasa before catching fire at Mwashatani area, along Likoni-Lunga Lunga highway, in Kwale county.

Lunga Lunga Deputy County Commissioner, Josphat Biwott, confirmed the incident saying: "We suspect that the incident was caused by wiring problem in the vehicle."
