A total of 39 passengers on Thursday morning escaped death by a whisker after a Tanzania bound Tahmeed bus caught fire at Mwashatani area along Likoni-Lunga Lunga highway in Kwale county.
The bus from Mombasa was said to be destined for Dar-es-Salaam before the accident.
The cause of the fire is yet to be established.
The accident comes a week after a Mombasa-Nairobi bound Tahmeed bus was on March 30, involved in a road accident at Kinyambu in Kibwezi, Makueni county, killing one person.
This is after a truck collided head-on along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway, killing the driver of the truck.
Another Tahmeed bus bound for Garissa from Nairobi also caught fire in December 2016.
