Residents of Kibera who live along Yaya – Laini Saba road in Kibera are not pleased with the way drivers use the road.
On Tuesday, the residents complained of irresponsible driving when a personal car driver that was plying way from Yaya via Kibera to the neighbouring place Kawangware lost control from the road and hit a nearby fence on the road side. Residents said if it was not the fence the car would have hit the nearby roadside houses and this was to be a huge destruction. There was no causality reported.
“I suggest the NTSA should bring the alcohol blow thing along the Yaya – Kibera roads since some drivers drive while drunk and this is causing a lot of deaths,’’ said Boniface Odhiambo, a resident.
The residents said that despite the NTSA rules on the use of roads drivers still seem not to be keen on the use of road rules since some of them overspeed.
“Drivers using roads especially this dry season when there is dust everywhere do not care they speed up and as a result dust blows to living premises and business area such road side hotels thus contaminating foods and water which later makes customers and residents get ill due to dust as some of them are seen in and out of hospital seeking treatment to coughing and other airborne diseases”, said Judith Omollo, a resident.
